The Austrian culture

In our school we just welcomed an exchange stundent from England and my task is to tell her something about the Austrian culture, stereotypes and clichés. So I wanted to share some of my ideas with you. First of all some basic information. One of the most important things in Austria is the formal vs. informal pronoun (“du” and “Sie”). You have to use formal pronoun when you’re talking to people older than you. So when you are in school you have to call the teachers “Sie” and the students “du”. Another very important thing is the title and the last name. When a person has a title you have to call him by their title and last name. This is very important to the Austrians. Shaking hands is the established form of greeting. Take your other hand out of your pocket and look into the person’s eyes. This is a very polite way of greeting in Austria and you should really stick to it. Clichés and stereotypes As you probably know, there are a lot of clichés and stereotyp...

advertisment

Image
Last english lesson we were talking about advertisment and how it changes our lifestyle and our behavior. So today I want to show you a funny advertising poster and tell you something about the marketing strategies behind it. But first of all lets start with some basic information about advertising. Advertising is used by companies, politicians, or other nonprofit instutions to sell their produkts or themselves. An advertisment should get the peoples attention so they will keep it in their minds and will probably buye it. At this picture you can see a chicken which is staring on a fried egg and is horrified and upset about it. There is also a slogan which says: "Don't let lunch meet breakfast". With that picture the company wants to get attention. It is kind of funny and special so people will probably keep it in their minds, which means that the product will be sold well if the marketing strategie works. I think this picture is a very good example for adverti...

Saint Patrick's day!!

St Patrick’s Day 2016 – Saint Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. St Patrick is credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland. The holiday is celebrated on the 13 th of March because Saint Patrick died on that day. In Catholic Ireland itself, this day is celebrated more quietly and in the family circle. Only the Irish emigrants namely those who have emigrated to the United States, have made the St. Patrick's Day to a mass event. Green is the colour of the Irish and Green needs and should be everything on that day. In the early days only her national flags, which they kept swinging joyfully in the sky, were green but over the years more and more "objects" were dyed green. Scarves, sweaters, trousers, shirts, T-shirts, hats, even food, their beer and the faces have been awarded green colour, according to the motto: everything you can colour, will be coloured. I hope you like my posting. If you have any further inf...

The group markets its products under the two brands Esprit and edc. I hope you got some basic information about the company and you enjoyed my posting.

Donald Trump

At school we have recently been watching the video "Donald Trump has nothing to apologize for". And now I want to tell you something about him and what I think about him and his ideas: Donald Trump is a politician in the USA. He is part of the Republicians. He wants to build a wall between Mexico and the USA and the Mexicans will have to pay for this wall. This wall should stop the immigrates from Mexico which come illigal into the USA. In this wall there will also be a big door where Mexicans can come into the country but only with the personal documents and the passport. With this wall he also wants to stop that drugs go into the country and money goes out. Now I want to tell you my personal opinion about that: I think Donald Trump is a very self confident man but he wouldn't be a good politician for the USA. At some point the wall is a good thing because it will stop the illegal immigrants and the drugs which come in the USA. But the wall...

Shopping

Hi!! In our english lesson we have recently been talking about shopping. So now I want to tell you about my shopping habbits. Let's get started. I really like shopping because after a long week at school it can reduse stress. My favourite shopping days are fridays or saturdays because during the week I don't have enough time to go shopping so I need to do this at the weekends. What I like the most to buy are defenetly music instruments or all kind of musical equipment because playing instuments and making music is my hobby. I also buy that to reward myself a little bit after I got a good mark in school. What I dislike to buy are household products because for me this is not really exciting. But unfortunatly I have to do this sometimes. There is a discounter and a small shopping mall near my place where we can almost buy everything. I really like shopping malls because you can always get everything you need and it's all in one big building. So I hope you found o...

Christmas traditions

Christmas traditions Christmas traditions vary from country to country. Elements common to many nations include the installing and lighting of Christmas trees, the hanging of Advent wreaths, Christmas stockings, candy canes, and the creation of Nativity scenes showing the birth of Jesus Christ. USA Most Americans are Christian, the day is one on which most businesses are closed and the greatest possible number of workers, including government employees, have the day off. Many places even close early on the day before. Canada For the English Canadians, the Christmas traditions of Canada feasts usually include a roast goose or beef and plum pudding. The homes are decorated with pine bough and kissing balls. They also sing the ancient carols during the period. The traditions centered on Christmas gifts in Canada vary a lot between families. In some families, a mythical figure called Santa Claus brings Gifts. In other families, individual members exchange caref...
