I have recently been reading an article titled “Be popular at work” in an edition of Business Spotlight of March 2017 and it talks about the best ways how to collaborate with colleagues at work. Hey guys! I have just been reading an article called “FAT-FREE and Happy” and it talks about clichés about America and the reality. I thought you might be interested because there are so many facts about America you might not know. Basically what it says is that it’s not true that America has no culture. For example Boston is an elegant place with fantastic museums and two of the world’s most famous universities, Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It also said that you can find the best collections of French Impressionists at the Museum of Fine Arts. The author also mentions that some of the clichés are true. Everything is bigger in the States: the shopping malls, the women and the glasses of Coca-Cola. What surprised me most was that America is very tolerant concerning gays and lesbians. As you will probably know, we just celebrated Christmas in Austria so I decided to tell you something about how I spent my Christmas holidays. My family and I also celebrated Christmas Eve and I want to give you some information about this holyday and I’ll tell how it is celebrated. In Austria, it’s not Santa Clause who brings the gifts, but the “Christkind”. It is often portrayed as a child with blond curls, wings and halo. In our school we just welcomed an exchange stundent from England and my task is to tell her something about the Austrian culture, stereotypes and clichés. So I wanted to share some of my ideas with you. First of all some basic information. One of the most important things in Austria is the formal vs. informal pronoun (“du” and “Sie”). You have to use formal pronoun when you’re talking to people older than you. So when you are in school you have to call the teachers “Sie” and the students “du”. Another very important thing is the title and the last name. When a person has a title you have to call him by their title and last name. This is very important to the Austrians. Shaking hands is the established form of greeting. Take your other hand out of your pocket and look into the person’s eyes. I really like shopping because after a long week at school it can reduse stress. Hi! In our english lesson we have recently been talking about our freetime activities. We talked about what we used to do when we want to reduse stress. So now I want to tell you what I usally do when I want to reduse stress. When I was younger, at the age of 10 to 13 I went to the volleyball club in my village twice a week for two ours to reduce stress. I really liked it and it was lots of fun playing volleyball with my friends . But then I got a new hobby. I started playing the guitar. I did that everyday for at least two hours. That helped me a lot to avoid stress and it also made me feel better when I was sad. Then I started to play other instruments, too. But about half a year ago I had an accident while playing the guitar, so now I'm not able to play instruments any longer. So what I do now to reduse stress is the following. I often meet my friends.
